About us

The Mac Support Store is the first Apple Authorized Repair Shop in the history of Brooklyn. Begun in 1996 by Jeff Graber and Judith Barr, The Mac Support Store has achieved numerous service excellence awards for a continued dedication to providing "the good experience" for Apple customers.  The Mac Support Store is Brooklyn's one-stop shop for Apple products, accessories and more.

Out of Warranty Repair

The Mac Support Store perform Apple repairs on all Mac, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Apple displays. We're best known for our ability to repair older Mac computers and upgrade them to make them current. We can install a larger hard drive or add more memory (RAM) to your Mac – usually with a quick, while-you-wait turnaround time.  Depending on your Mac's model, we can also install a new graphics card or perform other upgrades. Get the maximum amount of RAM Apple recommends for your Mac and get a big boost in speed along with the ability to run more applications at once. You’ll save up to 80% off Apple's RAM pricing, with free professional installation by a certified technician while you wait. The Mac Support Store RAM is guaranteed for the life of your Mac including testing, labor, and same-day replacements if you ever need it. Running out of space for your video, music, or pictures? Max out your Mac's hard drive in about a day at The Mac Support Store. This service includes one of the hard drives below, installation by a certified technician, transferring your data to the new solid state hard drive

The Mac Support Store always provides a free diagnostic with no appointment necessary. Spills and accidental damage are the main reasons for having to give a revised estimate on a repair. So if we take apart your portable and find the food, smell the wine, or see the electrolytic corrosion, we'll have to call you back and give a new estimate. We will give you the same advice that we would give our friends: the best solution for your needs and budget. For portable Macs, we can generally complete repairs for less than Apple's flat-rate repair services Desktop Macs are not eligible for Apple's flat-rate repairs, so we'll give you an estimate for any parts that need to be replaced plus labor. We'll also check to see if your computer is covered by any Apple repair extensions that might pay for repairs.

Sometimes computers fail for specific reasons, like being dropped or spilled on. Other times, a delicate part like the hard drive fails during normal use. Many failures and repairs don't affect the hard drive or your data. When you come in for an estimate, we'll let you know if your data is in jeopardy and how we can back it up or perform a data recovery prior to the repair. We use only genuine Apple parts – all including the same standard 90-day worldwide Apple warranty.

Make an External Out of Your Old Drive

If you'd like to purchase an external hard drive enclosure, we'll install your old hard drive into it. This creates an inexpensive external hard drive you can keep as a backup of your files.

Spill Cleaning

We charge a non-refundable fee of $250 + tax for cleaning the computer and determining the extent of the spill damage. When you bring your Mac in for a spill cleaning, we completely disassemble it and clean the affected parts. Then we reassemble the computer and test the Mac to determine if any of the parts need to be replaced. A technician will then call you with the cost to replace any damaged parts; at that point you can choose to continue the repair or move onto a new machine. You'll get the same advice we'd give a good friend; if it makes more sense to purchase a new Mac, we'll let you know. With over two decades of Apple repair experience, The Mac Support Store's Apple-certified technicians handle out of warranty repairs. There are few problems we haven’t tackled with the collective knowledge gained by performing over 10,000 Apple repairs a year.

Data Recovery

Usually we're able to recover all the data from your device. In rare cases, our technicians will be able to recover a portion of your data. If you are unsatisfied with the recovered data, there is no charge. If we are unable to recover any data, you will not be charged, and we can coordinate having your drive sent to a more intensive (and expensive) data recovery facility.

Recycling Your Computer

The Mac Support Store will accept all electronics for free local recycling. No hazardous material is shipped overseas. The Mac Support Store has partnered with eRevival LLC to offer free daily recycling. We do not accept appliances of any kind. That includes televisions, refrigerators, microwave ovens.
Rentals

The Mac Support Store offers computer rentals to individuals and businesses. We have an extensive inventory of Apple computers and displays, as well as projectors and accessories. Whether you need a Mac to check your e-mail, edit with Final Cut Pro on location, or run Windows with Boot Camp, we've got you covered. Our rental systems come with a pretty large selection of software preinstalled, but if you need specific software on your rental, contact us and we can probably help you out. To make a reservation, please call 718-312-8341 or contact us to check availability. To secure the reservation you'll need a major credit card. Please note that the first day of rental charges are non-refundable if you cancel. Rentals can be reserved online for later pickup. If you return a machine before its due date, you will only be charged for the amount of time used. Please note that we do not pro-rate weekly rates. Our machines are continuously tested for quality, however with computer equipment there is always a chance of failure. If your rental has failed, you have two options.

You can pick-up a replacement from The Mac Support Store during store hours or we will deliver a replacement to you by the next business day. If you pick-up the replacement, we'll give you a discount on the rental for the cost of delivery. Please remember to consistently back-up any data that you have on the rental computer. You are ALWAYS responsible for your own data. You are responsible for the full replacement cost of the rental if it is damaged or lost. The security deposit usually does not cover the full value of the machine, so you may owe additional money. If we determine that the machine is repairable, we will charge you for the cost of repair. You are not responsible for any mechanical failures from normal use or manufacturer defects.

Expand Your Technology Staff With Additional Onsite or Remote Support

The Mac Support Store technicians allow you to scale your staffing on demand while your in-house IT staff focuses on strategic business initiatives. We can send a technician to assist at your location or help your employees remotely by email, chat, and phone. Contact The Mac Support Store about temporary assistance during heavy project phases or new system deployments.
